PAIRING RARE PLANTS WITH HANDCRAFTED CERAMICS
Los Angeles-based SANSO is a plant design company that combines rare and unique plants with handcrafted ceramics wares. All ceramics are handmade locally in SANSO’s studio while the selection of plants come from seeds and cuttings from plant collectors. The company usually works on interior projects but has opened a pop-up in Los Feliz open to the public.
“Every person needs plants in their house! Rather than stopping by the regular plant store I love visiting Sanso La. They have rare and unique plants with hand crafted ceramics wares. Each little plant is a piece of art by itself and really gives a zen mood in your home.”
“One of my favorite farm- to - table restaurants to have a NICE brunch or dinner with friends. All their ingredients are locally sourced and so fresh. Guess what? They are opening a location in New York soon!”
A FARM-TO-TABLE RESTAURANT ON ABBOT KINNEY
Named after the founder’s mother, Gjelina is a restaurant serving locally-sourced food. Since opening in 2008 Gjelina has evolved from just one restaurant into many different businesses. From Gjusta, their deli-bakery-cafe, to Gjusta Grocer, Gjusta Flower Shop and Gjusta Apartment. There’s even a Gjelina foundation, a nonprofit organization providing students in Venice with learning opportunities in food and art.
A DIFFERENT WAY TO START YOUR DAY
Matcha has long been proposed as an alternative to coffee. The green beverage comes with many health benefits, and less of a caffeine spike. Even though matcha has grown in popularity, finding a high quality matcha is still difficult. Nekohama wanted to change that. The company is run by Sanne and her fiancé Max and their friends Jason and Jessie. Nekohama is ‘farm to bowl’, which means the matcha is never sold beyond the six month mark from the date of its creation. Leaving you with a high quality and fresh product.
“I fell in love with matcha years ago when I was living in NYC and constantly beating jet lag and tiredness with just caffeine from coffee. There wasn’t much good matcha out there so my half-Japanese Fiancé and I decided to find our own. Nekohama is the freshest, best TASTING and non bitter matcha out there that you can make any time of the day. We also offer gorgeous matcha tool kits that you can store on your kitchen counter.”
“As a pilates instructor and business owner I wear workout clothing most of the time. I like to be COMOFORTABLE yet put together at the same time. I love the sets from the brand Norba. The brand is female founded and their collections consist of chic and comfortable pieces that fit both in your sports and daily routine.”
THIS BRAND MAKES YOU WANT TO WEAR GYM CLOTHES ALL DAY
Founded by two sisters, Norba is a clothing brand that moves with you. Rather than separating your workout from your everyday clothes, Norba focuses on creating essential wear. Selling comfortable, minimal apparel that you can wear to exercise but that also seamlessly fits into your everyday wardrobe.
