A CELEBRATION OF AFRICAN FASHION AND DESIGN

London V&A’s new exhibition ‘Africa Fashion’ showcases the global impact of the dynamic and varied African fashion scene. Through photographs, textiles, music and the visual arts the exhibition showcases creatives and works spanning from the mid-20th century to now. The exhibition is on now until 16 April 2023

“I recently had the pleasure of attending the breakfast preview event of the UK's biggest show of this kind. The Africa Fashion exhibition features incredible contemporary African designers, but also an impressive archive CELEBRATING the history of Pan-African fashion and design. It made me feel nostalgic but also extremely excited for the future of African fashion.”

“On a day to day basis I rarely wear make-up but during the summer months I find it almost impossible to. Because of this, I do my best to stick to a skincare routine and almost half the steps of mine are made up of Dr Jart+ products. I spray this in my ROUTINE and then sporadically if I need a top up throughout the day and it instantly leaves my skin feeling refreshed (and looking dewy!)”

LONGING FOR REFRESHED AND DEWY SKIN?

Dr Jart’s Ceramidin cream mist is great for those with dry skin. The formula locks in moisture and strengthens the skin’s moisture barrier, resulting in smoother and hydrated skin. Spray the mist over your entire face as needed, avoiding contact with your eyes. The mist can also be used as a toner after cleansing or bring it in your bag for when your skin needs some extra moisture during the day.

DEMOCRATIZING ART WITH PARTNERSHIP EDITIONS

Founded By Georgia Spray in 2017, Partnership Editions aims to truly democratize the art market. After spending six years working in art, Spray saw an opportunity to create a place for aspiring collectors and emerging artists to connect. Partnership Editions offers a mix of prints and original works, with prices starting at just £60.

“I love ART; making it as well as viewing it, and have gotten a number of my favorite pieces from Partnership Editions. They aim to break down the elitism of the art world by making it more accessible and in line with this, have launched their Artist Open Call as a springboard for emerging art talent. Artists are invited to submit work with the chance of being part of their new collection and I’m part of the selection committee choosing works this year, so if you know of any talented artists who deserve a bigger platform, spread the word!

“I first tried Bom Bom Market's Ssamjang - a dipping sauce made with Korean soybean paste - at a SUPPER CLUB hosted by designer Eudon Choi (I'm cheating here - I was asked to pick five things, but had to slip in another favorite clothing brand!). I haven't stopped waxing lyrical about it since. I truly believe you could dip anything in it and it would taste phenomenal, though it's best served with veggies and meat. Words simply don't do it justice - you simply have to try it.”

A MUST-TRY KOREAN CONDIMENT

Bom Bom Market was founded by chef Seji. Her successful supper club in Wimbledon in 2018 led to multiple collaborations and pop-ups with East London restaurants, which made her realize how much people loved Korean food and sauces. From there Bom Bom Market was born, a line of traditional Korean sauces with a twist. The brand now offers a selection of three sauces including Gochujang, Ssamjang and Kimchi mayo.

ANNIE LORD’S DEBUT NOVEL SHOWS ALL FACETS OF HEARTBREAK

Cult journalist Annie Lord’s new debut novel ‘Notes on Heartbreak’ was published by Orion Publishing at the end of June 2022. The book has received stellar reviews and Lord has been celebrated for her honesty and vulnerability, showing all facets of love and heartbreak.

“There are lots of books on LOVE, the loss of it and everything in between, but no one quite writes about all of it like Annie Lord. Following her popular dating and relationship column at British Vogue, her debut did not disappoint; the memoir is heartfelt, heart-wrenching and heart melting in equal measure. It usually takes me a while to finish books but once I picked it up I raced through it - it's one that will stay with you long after reading.”
